In our trucking industry, it is crucial to be well-versed in the standards and regulations that affect daily operations. For example, emission standards require changes to engines that are harder to crank and more stringent anti-idling regulations significantly increase the number of times engines start throughout the day. These regulations should immediately make an operator think about their truck’s components, especially their starter.
TRP® recently introduced a new line of starter motors featuring a standard straight-drive design and an advanced gear reduction starter that is half the weight of a traditional straight-drive starter. More importantly, they don’t draw a lot of battery power. TRP Starters meet the needs of those regulations mentioned with an outstanding combination of power, durability and value. They’re also designed to meet or exceed OEM specifications.
The RE42 series is an 11-tooth pinion starter and offers optional over-crank protection, plus an 18-month warranty. TRP also offers the RE39 series, a gear reduction design starter that provides greater torque with less current draw.
The RE39 series of TRP starters are available with 11-tooth pinions and 12-tooth pinions in 46-mm diameter and 43 1/5-mm diameter sizes. The starters offer a built-in circuit breaker that protects the starter from thermal damage and adverse starting condition such as cold-weather cranking. And they feature an integral magnetic switch that reduces voltage drop and delivers the maximum available voltage to the solenoid in any starting condition. TRP provides a three-year warranty with the RE39 series.
